10 Best Ways to Save Money at Disney World

Planning a Disney Trip some time in the future, make sure to check out these 10 Best Ways to Save Money at Disney World! No matter what age you are, a Disney vacation is one of the most magical vacations you can give yourself and your family. There is no other way to explain it than Disney just knows how to do it right. They pay attention to every detail, their parks are in pristine condition, their staff is friendly, and you feel like a pampered child from the moment you arrive until the moment you depart. And once you do depart, you are already planning your next trip in your head. You might think all of this magic comes at a cost, and while a Disney vacation can be pricey, knowing a few tips and tricks can make the experience much more affordable. Below, you will find the 10 Best Ways to Save Money at Disney World.

If you are ready for some mouse magic, but don’t want to bust your budget, take a peek at the 10 Best Ways to Save Money at Disney World below for planning a Disney vacation on a dime!

10 Best Ways to Save Money at Disney World:

1. Grocery Delivery.
Make sure to order snacks, water, fruit etc from Amazon and they can deliver right to your hotel room (usually within 2 hours!)! This will save you from having to carry all those items with you when you travel (especially if you are flying) and you get the low prices from Amazon. This way your room has waters and snacks!!

2. Buy souvenirs before you depart.
Suppose you want Mickey t-shirts for your children to wear to the park. Or maybe you want Tinkerbell water bottles to use in the park. Buy these items BEFORE you depart. If you wish to pick these items up in an airport gift shop or hotel gift shop, or even park store, you are going to pay five times as much. Instead, find clearance or sale items at the Disney Store online, or licensed Disney items at Walmart online or instore. You should be able to find kid’s t-shirts for less than $10.00 and water bottles for less than $5.00. Save your money instead for the souvenirs you can’t buy locally, like the famous Mickey Ears.

3. Put in a few hours of work while on vacation.
Many people swear by this idea: while on your trip agree to listen to a 90 minute time share presentation. Not only are you not obligated to spend a cent, but they will often give you a free breakfast and…drum roll please…free park tickets! Many presenters give two free park tickets, various show tickets, or even Disney park gift cards if you listen to one of their presentations. The value of these perks can be well worth the 90 minutes you give listening to someone give a sales pitch.

4. Book airfare separately.
While you may choose to book your vacation through Disney, book your airfare separate. Disney will do all they can to get you a great deal on a place to rest your head and park packages that suit your needs, but they will not be able to get you any deals on airline tickets. They may offer to tie them into your package, but you will be paying a hefty price. Instead, stick to Expedia.com and Orbitz.com, or one of many other online deal sites to find a great deal on your airfare. 5. Take advantage of off season/discounted days.
Disney offers discounted days a few times a year that are worth taking advantage of. Many discounts are offered during the off season, which is the winter months and typically the days leading up to a holiday. During these times many of your costs are reduced to entice business. Disney parks also offer a free day for volunteers when you spend a day volunteering at an approved non-profit location. Make sure to check out Destinations In Florida, this is an Orlando travel agency specializing in Disney and Universal Orlando Vacations. Or visit the Disney Website to see specials.

6. Consider the perks of staying on property.
Disney has many places to stay during your vacation, and they are not nearly as pricey as you think. Not only that, but they all offer perks such as free shuttles and early park entrance. Many of these resorts can run as low as $90.00 a night, include free shuttles to the parks, and give you passes for early admittance. These are perks you would have to pay extra for if you stay off property. Plus, your resort will have all of the charm and quality of Disney!

7. Make smart food choices.
Disney parks will allow you to carry in your own beverages. This is a step you MUST do! Beverages will run you $5.00 and up. If a family of four gets thirsty, you are going to be spending $20.00 each time. Instead, bring your own water bottles which all snack stands will gladly fill with free water for you. Or, bring in your own bottled beverages. Even if you eliminate a few drink purchases as a result of this tip, you will easily save $20.00 plus. If you are going to eat at the park, eat breakfast at your hotel, bring your own snacks for a mid day pick up, and then spend your money on a buffet at dinner. This way, you are most likely getting a cheap or free breakfast, free mid day snack, and then getting an all you can eat buffet to satisfy you at the end of the day for around $20-$30 per person. These buffets are typically character greetings too, so you are getting entertained for free!

8. Take a peek on eBay.
eBay is a great place to buy discounted park tickets, gift certificates, and more Disney items. Look for legit sellers with excellent feedback only. You can find tickets that are discounted by at least 10%, plus gift cards at a reduced price and souvenir items. Peeking on eBay is a great way to score Disney tickets, gift cards to use in the parks, and souvenir  items at a reduced cost.

9. Take your own autograph book.
This is a tip worth sharing. There are so many chances to meet and greet the characters, and children will want an autograph book to do so. Buy one before your trip instead of at the park. The park knows people will be desperate for an autograph book, which is why they charge $15.00 and up for them. Instead, find a fun journal at Walmart for $2.00 and take that with you instead.

10. Be willing to be flexible.
As with any vacation, you can save more money if you are flexible. Don’t have your heart set on a certain date, hotel, or excursion. Instead, shop around for the best values and be willing to bend a little. You will find that there are many hotel, air, and park deals out there if you are patient. Maybe you wanted to depart on a Saturday, but flights are less expensive on a Tuesday. Maybe you wanted a 5 star hotel, but found a super deal on a 4 star. Be willing to bend, and you will surely save.
